Thu, 05:42: Madison Valley was originally announced with a projected 2017 opening. After seemingly endless postponements and NIMBY pushback against the complex at which it will be the anchor tenant, groundbreaking finally occurred in 2023 and the store is set to open early 2026, if not sooner.
As for Downtown? Since this post, that store opened two years later; closed two years after that; and will re-open as a "small format" store a year and a half after *that,* late this summer, with our Central Office moving into the rest of its original space.
Holy shit a lot can change in five years. https://t.co/etQP4tbmak
Thu, 16:16: The fires in Los Angeles County are unreal. 180,000 people under evacuation orders. 29,000 acres of land burned, and counting.
People are losing everything they own right now, being terrified right now. For the rest of us, the implications for the future are terrifying. The same could have been said as many as five years ago when the vastly devastating bushfires happened in Australia, but for Americans at least, this is a new level. Fires are burning across the nation's second-largest metropolitan area, with a total population of 12.8 million—not out in the sticks, but in the cities. This could get even worse yet before it gets better.
This *should* be a wakeup call. I really want to lean into the idiocy of the climate change-denier this country just elected, but you know what? We have been collectively dropping the ball on this shit for decades. And here we are. https://t.co/GM8KpPSjeb
