received and not forgotten

Shobhit's been at his mom's in India now since last night, my time. That would have been this morning India time, I think. At some point he clearly read my post about Christmas, becuase he texted me that you forgot about the statues and earrings that you got. Look, I can't remember every single detail!

Among the gifts Shobhit gave me, he got some from a vendor booth at the farmers market, if I remember right. Stuff imported from Africa, including this couple of small statues that I actually think are pretty cool; and two pairs of earrings, one of which are of marijuana leaves and one of which are giraffes. I'll definitely have to wear the giraffe ones any time I go to a zoo again! I quite liked those ones in particular.

The marijuana leaf ones are slightly trickier; they seem at first glance to be rainbow colored but they are actually only thre colors: red, yellow, and green—as Laney pointed out, the colors of the Rastafairan flag. Laney said "so it would be super weird for a white person to wear them," but I'm not certain that it would be, actually. I feel like they are pretty subtle, and depending on the context of where I wore them, one could argue that it's a subtle sign of appreciation rather than, for example, cultural appropriation. It's not the same as dressing in traditional attire.

So, what else? I went to Steamworks last night, first time in three months. I had a spectacular experience, better than any I've had this year (I only went a total of five times this year, actually). I'll spare you the details, this isn't that kind of blog!

Shobhit asked me while texting me from his planes—he got wifi on both of them—if I was lonely. I may get there, but not yet! Honestly I'm loving being able to keep the Christmas lights on for as long as I want, with the blinds open. I'll be taking all that stuff down next week, though.

I've also got plenty of stuff scheduled already through January, which I've already mentioned makes it feel like the holiday season isn't even ending, with all the stuff going on, albeit a lot of it movies. I had considered taking a short trip somewhere, but there won't be any time! I have a triple feature scheduled with Alexia on Saturday the 4th; a double feature with Laney on Sunday the 5th; Laney and I will be seeing the incredibly long (three and a half hours) movie The Brutalist on Saturday the 11th as that obviously has to be done on a weekend, and still with Happy Hour right after it; I may go with Tracy to visit Claudia in Port Orchard on Sunday the 12th; Shobhit gets back the weekend after that, on Sunday the 19th.

I've got plenty to keep me busy, basically indefinitely going forward, which is how I like it!
